
Digital and Social Writing
for Professionals
This workshop is designed for teams performing all types of digital writing across business, nonprofit, and government spaces. The session prompts participants to consider, critique and begin to re-envision their organization's digital presences in real time. This engaging, active workshop strikes a balance between emphasizing higher-level issues, such as persuasive appeals and concerns of audience, and lower-level skills, like concision and shifts in language on one platform or site as opposed to another.
Outcomes
In this workshop, participants will learn to:
Understand how online writing differs from more traditional forms of writing
Recognize effective texts in a variety of genres, from a well-scripted Instagram story to a compelling About Us page
Perform a targeted audience analysis and identify, analyze and effectively write to multiple audiences to achieve specific organizational objectives
Demonstrate their acquired understanding of various online writing standards and conventions, including organizational websites, social media and other media
Effectively repurpose/redistribute content across platforms
Create persuasive writing in various forms, utilizing multiple kinds of appeals
Adapt their writing in tone, language and form for various online platforms
Understand and adhere to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG)
Consider the thoughtful, ethical use of images and video for various purposes across digital platforms
Draft a thoughtful, comprehensive, and actionable social media plan

This workshop typically runs in one day, three hours in the morning and three hours in the afternoon, with an hour break for lunch.
