Building an effective Collaborative Writing Process
While many of us grew up understanding writing as a solitary activity, in the workplace, written communication is undeniably collaborative—whether physically sitting down with a colleague and brainstorming together, simply passing around a draft for comments and approval, or anything in between. In this session, we work with teams to determine the pain points for the writing process. Participants will discuss current writing or document procedures, assess them, and ultimately work together to rethink and implement stronger, more beneficial processes that will allow for better work and happier writers.
Outcomes
In this workshop, participants will learn to:
Understand that writing just about anything in the workplace will contain an element of collaboration
Develop, as a team or organization, a process that not only manages to streamlines your work, but also makes for more successful documents
Ask better questions about drafts with an eye toward overall document success, rather than simple edits
Consider various types of interventions in that process that will allow for more agreement early in the process—ultimately saving saving time and discussion after a draft has already been written—when others typically voice complaints or critiques
Provide better feedback to your colleagues on their drafts, and prompt them to provide more useful feedback to you
Standard workshops are typically limited to 12 participants to ensure active engagement and individual feedback. If you have a larger group, please get in touch to talk about your options.
